Does anybody in the list know this machine?
It was used to make all the sounds in the album "Automat" (EMI - Italy).
It's an electronic classic here in Brazil, as one of the tunes (Droid), was
used as the main theme by a TV news program (Jornal da Globo) in 1980 - it
reached the Top Ten that year. Not a bad feat, for a eletronic instrumental
piece!
Here's the sleeve notes (LP - 1978. never found it on CD)
"Music and sounds conceived, arranged and played by Romano Mussumara and
Claudio Gizzi. All tunes realized entirely with sounds programmed by Mario
Maggi using the MCS70 (Memory Controlled Synthesizer). Sound engineer:
Luciano Torani."
Sounds to me as an one-of-a-kind analog beast, built by some mad types at
an University, full of jacks and knobs, with hundreds of blinking LED's ...
or am I dreaming?
Edu
