I'm only in it for the art. Music is art and I want my synthesizer to be a piece of art too. I have seen too many homebuilt synths that look like piles of junk. Mine is going to look as good as commercial synths. No, make that "better than commercial synths". This is a hobby and to me there is no joy in making it if it doesn't look good. And that holds for internal parts like circuit boards too.
