MODULARS!!??

Hello,
this is no DIY question but i think you are the people who know the modulars best.

the thing is that i am desperately looking for an analogue modular
and of course i am lookiing for a special one,
and i dont know whether it should be a vintage or a new modular
what is important to me is a great sound and the flexibility to create a vast
range
of different sounds.1 VCO-1VCF-1VCA module wouldnt be that improvement to me , i
think.
i already asked the people of AH, and i realized that everybody has a different
opinion......
one says ARP 2600, the other Moog,Serge and the new styled gear like MOTM
and Doepfer
so if somebody could give some good advice then i probably could stop thinking
of these machines for at least 5 minutes
