Hi. I just joined synth-diy.
I write 3-D image generation
software at Pixar Animation
Studios in northern California.
The rain storm at the end of
A Bug's Life was my responsibility.
I've done similar work for more than
20 years now.

In my spare time I've built musical
instruments and used computers and
analog electronics to compose music
for more than 30 years. In the
beginning I worked in a traditional
tape studio, using test equipment,
tape recorders, custom-built gadgetry &
a lot of splicing tape, and worked from
scores produced on mainframe computers.
I won't bore you with details of subsequent
spins of the technology wheel. Lately,
I've started building analog gadgets again,
and even things with acoustic components
(strings, plates, pipes), although usually
electrically excited and processed.

For a holiday performance this Christmas,
I built a thing that interfaced the guts
of a pile of Christmas-card noisemakers
(you know, the ones that play Jolly Old St
Nicholas in square waves when you open the
card) to some guitar toys.
