...me to.
30 years old. Been programming in one language or another since
I was about 13. Comp. Sci. degree from Rutgers Univ. Had a couple of big
corporate IT development jobs and started my own consulting company
about a year ago - my one and only client being Siemens Corp. here in
NYC. My main job (for each company) since I got out of school has been
customizing J.D.Edwards (integrated business software, like SAP). It's
RPG programming on AS/400's and it's mighty boring compared to windows
and GUI stuff, but (IMHO) for business apps it's a lot easier, more
reliable, faster to develop, easier to troubleshoot, and easier to
upgrade than the client/server stuff (green-screen terminals are the
original "thin client"!). I've also done (and do) work in Oracle,
Powerbuilder, VB, Java, and C++.
Started doing diy about 2 1/2 (or is it 3?) years ago, and
originally got into building electronics kits as a kid thanks to my dad
who was an EE (he's retired now).
