I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that you have to be  
conservative in your dsp filtering code. I mean, if you turn up the resonance  
there is a pretty good chance that you run out of headroom. So clipping (or  
worse: wrapping) will occur, and digital clipping isn't very musical.
