Simple sample playback using EPROMs

I was think about making a simple sample play back module that used
EPROMs, specifically for storing a 909 hihat and cymbol samples, complete
with the pitch control like the 909. I take it decay can be easily made
using
VCAs on the outputs together with an EG....

Does anyone have schematics on the web somewhere?
Obviously i'm going to need some sort of microcontroller,and i
assume this sort of technology has been used in all kinds of
machines over the years like the drumtracks, 707 909 etc..
