Help! I got this from someone on the list and don't
know the answers? Names have been deleted.. private
mail and all...
I want to build a Mad Mouse..
>1. Are tha parts easy to find in the UK?
Can you guys from the UK order parts from US or is there
a better option? What about the rest of the world? I'm
getting a few international orders.
>2. How could I pay for the board from the UK?
There must be a way... I can't see getting involved with
credit cards to sell 40 pc boards.
>3. I dont have too much experience, How difficult is the synth
>and how long will it take me to build?
If you don't have a CV controller (read old analog synth) add
time to buy and build a paia midi2cv8. You must at least have a
midi keyboard and a cv converter that sends pitch and gate.
I would say not too bad but the more experience the better
a good understanding of how a CV synth works is the most
important aspect. I would think about 4-6 hours assembly
time. Others might have a different take on that.
You have to punch and drill the case, stuff the board,
mount the controls, fly the wires, mount the board and
scale the VCOs.
If it doesn't work it will take time to trouble-shoot and
fix the problem.
I'm still working on the assembly/setup guide and help page.
What do you think guys? It's a good time to find things like
this out. I can add it to the order/help pages.

BTW i'm getting requests for Maxx boards. I may do a two
board set, use a 723 supply, heat up the VCOs, add the CA3280
sine shaper to all 3 VCOs, throw in a full ms20 filter and the
ultimate moog filter I've been working on and stuff it all into
a 6 space rack. So if everything goes ok with the Mouse and it
looks pretty good so far, maybe Maxx boards by April. I'm
thinking both boards for $75 bucks.
So if your thinking about the Maxx a Mad Mouse would be really
good practice..:-)
Or would you guys rather have something else?
