Strange source for SSM2040 ICs?

Well, hopefully I'm not getting hopes up for nothing (as apparently nobody
other than the supplier can confirm that the part I got is the now infamous
2040), however I see no reason why it wouldn't be. They also have 2020s and
2050s. Check the IC section out though for any other bizarre chips out
there (lotsa weird rhythm generator LSIs etc.)

They have a lot of oddball parts for organs and other tidbits. I feel
weird though, as if I could find this with a search engine, anybody could
(or should) have too. The SSMs are $30 US each plus shipping. Now, if I can
just put together a quickie external circuit to test this puppy and confirm
its identity!!
I guess I'm just paranoid, as it seems like a bit of a dream to find such
a rare item for a mere $30. Also, I was romantically looking forward to
seeing the glorious SSM2040 plastered on the top of the chip. But if it's
the one, who cares about the numbers on the lid!
