Yes. You would see a difference for 5 (or any odd number of)
stages, however, because you have an inversion in each stage
in one case vs. the other.
If you add the direct signal normal and / or inverted you can
get both options with each topology. Same for the sign of the
feedback loop.
(Most phasers use an even number of stages anyway.)
