Beware, there are two EZ-Kit's: one with the ADSP2181, which is about $100.  
This is a fixed point DSP. Then there's another one with the floating point  
Sharc DSP, but it is more expensive. The floating point capabilities should  
make it easier to program, but I have no experience with that.

I have the 2181 kit, and it works, although I think it is a bit noisy. (Bad  
pcb layout?) It comes with an assembler and some demo programs, and it is easy  
to program (if you have some experience in assembler). I recently found a web  
site (http://www.ece.rutgers.edu/~orfanidi/ezkitl/ezkitl.html) with some  
additional lab excercises for the EZKIT.
