Have you looked at http://www.paia.com ? They have the FatMan synth. It is  
similar to the MadMouse. The Paia site is a nice site to browse anyway.

You could get the RS CDROM. It has many data sheets on it.

There are some site which have lists of the most common ICs. For example:  
http://www.falstaff.demon.co.uk/giicm.html (the Giant Internet IC  
Masturbator). There's also http://www.repairfaq.org/filipg/ which might  
interest you. It looks very repair-oriented, but there's some good stuff  
there.

You might also want to have a look at some newsgroups. comp.arch.hobbyist or  
the various sci.electronics.design, sci.electronics.misc, etc. Also, the  
people on this list have been posting interesting web pages, which sometimes  
contain more links than mortals can follow. B-)
