Dealing with anything in venezuela is everyting but a pleasure!!
I know, i have spent four months in venezuela and the caribbean!!
The Guarda Nacional steel my backpack at the last military stop at the
gran sabana, south american highway when i was going to Santa Helena de
uarien!!
Ass hole people, thats costed me 16000 bolivares, and when i was going to
take a cab back to the military outpost to try to pick up my backpack
two military ass holes "just" jumped in to the cab to have a free ride
back to their asshole outpost!!!
Just wanted to mention this since this MP people use to take peoples
packings
and put drugs in them just so they can black mail them to handle over
some
"""green bills"" .Just remember that the venuzulano prisons are the
worst on the
planet. A common saying is, "no one lasts more then two years in our
prisons"
Do not belive that one can travel around in venezuela just speking
english, spanish is necessary, otherwise one are just regarded as a
""walking bank.""
Besides the hassle o stress by the MP or any other police the
country is wery interesting and has a loot to offer the traveller!

Can for sure understand your conserns!
One solution for you (if you live there or close near by)is to order
everything you need from the outside world to one of the internattional
package delivery companieses(DHL, feedex etc) office at Isla Margarita
Its a tax free zone and gods deliverys are taken several times each day
from Miami, Orlando etc, Florida.
To make this smooth(fairly smooth)you need a VISA card.
