With a low SNR device, you always have a tradeoff between
noisy and distorted. Now distortion isn't such a bad thing
per se in the VCA of a single synth voice. The JX3P is
generally described as "harsh" sounding (don't beat me !),
so maybe they are more on the overdrive side ?
I really don't know - just a guess.
