Hi there all,
Most lists I've been on or run it's polite to introduce yourself when
you join. I've already posted this to AH, and this is going to two other related
lists. My apologies for those who see this more than once :) Pardon my cut and
paste.
Everyone calls me Irish, really they do. I have been playing music on various
instruments since I was very small, so I can play practically anything.
I have always liked electonic music, and recently sold all my guitar gear (that
I wan't playing anyway) to start making the music I like most. The inspiration
for this was DJ John Kelly and other 'desert' artists, although I don't
intend to do much DJ'ing, more like creation from scratch.
So far I have a Korg Poly800 that I just put the filter mod on (along with a
midi thru port), and a wierd-ass item I'm hesitant to describe. It's a Miracle
piano, 49 keys, 6 built-in 'voices', velocity sensitive, and midi ports. I tried
to play a midi file on it via a SB and damned if it didn't grab the wav
samples and store them! It also now appears to have drum samples on ch8 (it
only has 8 midi channels). This will likely be the subject of several analogish
mods, once I learn how they're done. Any suggestions? I also have a PC that has
never run anything but Linux in the last four years, equipped with a SB32 and
some promising software (Softwerk and kooBase). Also, a Korg DDD-5 should
appear soon.
Anyone have (hardware) sequencer suggestions for someone on a budget?
I was in the electronics manufacturing industry for several years, doing
everything from line assembly to department director. I have built everything
from Nintendos to heart defibrillators to industrial equipment. Needless to
say, I am quite at home with my Weller! And am looking forward to various DIY
mod projects.
I no longer work in manufacturing (burnout); instead I have a 'low stress'
computer job (hah!).
That's it. Sorry, I'm not normally this wordy; hope I didn't bore you to death
:)
