you can find a number of ASM-1 pages from people who built it (well,
the ASM-1 homepage is such a page in itself). Also, there are a bunch
of people here that does not have webpage (what!?) of their ASM-1, but
are more than competent to answer this question among others.

For my own part I can say that it is a fairly easy project to build.
Depending on how you design your frontpanel your flexibility may vary.
