Hello all,

Well, so far I have received eleven responses saying to NOT
rip apart the continental, some of them quite emphatic
about it. I have had only one response recommending to use
it for my synth project, based on their low value where
this person lives (Australia). There were a few replies
from people on the list being interested in it. As a result
of this my wife tells me that I *cannot* tear this thing
apart (and I do agree with her that I probably shouldn't),
so there is one for the spousal interference thread. She
teaches piano and would like me to fix it up for one of her
students, or sell it to buy a more modern keyboard for the
same purpose. So much for my synth project :-(

However, I am still not sure what to do!

Used synth gear is rare and hard to find where I live, and
I very much want one. Based on the one offer that I have
been given for it at this point, I don't believe the money
would be sufficient to buy a new instrument of any quality
or much useful used equipment. I would like to think that
it would be worth enough to at least get me an equivalent
keyboard, case, and stand, as that is what I would get by
gutting it. But maybe not, in which case, why sell it?

So what is a reasonable asking price for a private sale to
a list member (not an inflated E-Bay price) for one of
these. It works fine, but needs cleaning, has a broken tone
knob (that could be easily fixed), and is cosmetically
scratched and banged up a bit, especially on the corners.
It comes with stand, lid, and volume pedal. Or what is a
reasonable trade for it in terms of an old analog synth,
maybe something broken that I could fix up.

Any thoughts?
