Hi,

>What's your opinion on gold plated jacks and other connectors?
>Are they really better than the normal nickel plated ones?

(From the tongue of the audiophile...)

Nickel plated connectors sound BAD; almost defective.

>How about using a gold plated plug in a nickel plated jack? Any andvantage
or is it actually better to stick with nickel plated plugs?

Mixing metals is a no-no. The dissimilar metal junction is subect to
corrosion and diode effects.

>Will the gold wear off after frequent insertions?

Yes, esp. if it is cheap. Gold is a great connector material, as it does
not tarnish. Unfortunately, it's expensive to spread to thickly.
