JX8P Addendum

An addition to my JX8P problem mentioned in my earlier post -

I took a closer look at the main board, and IC53 (A TL064CN) has shorted
or burned or whatever it is op-amps do. It's obviously trashed.

I desoldered it, cleaned up the board underneath and checked to make
sure that no traces were lost - all looks well. I soldered in an IC
socket to make it easier to replace the chip.

My questions -

Will an op amp normally go on it's own, or does another component
normally fail and cause it to go? I'm not sure what to check.

Also, any idea what this IC affects? I'm wondering if it relates to my
problem, or if it's something additional.

Thanks, and sorry again for my ignorance,

Tim
