Liverdrain,
I am in the process of writing up a short tutorial on the OTA
(Operational Transconductance Amplifier), invented by RCA (CA3080) and made
with nary a single resistor. You inject a currrent and modulate it. It is
an amplifier with differential input and a current output. Pick up the spec
sheet at harris.com.
The CA3080 had a serious flaw in it as far as the injected control
current went. You gotta blow it in (instead of suck it out), so that the
CA3080 really sucks, ironically, because it blows. The CA13600
(LM13600/13700) has a pair in one chip. It has the same problem and really
sucks. I mean, really blows. Wait for the tutorial and I'll explain.
