Well, in Japanese there are a lot of "borrowed" words from English. They
are just a little bit difficult to write correcly with hiragana or
katakana symbols which are two letter syllables. Actually they even use
the word rice from English sometimes, but it has to be written "raisu" due
to the limitation of the character set.
As l and r are basically the same thing in Japanenese, the word
linearity=riniariti etc.
My favourite word written in Japanese is "microelectronics" which is
written in Japanese as "maikuroeretoronikusu", if I remember correctly.
It's about ten years from the two basic courses in Japanese I took. So
don't ask me to do any translating...
