Being able to do an analog emulation of the "Yamaha" synthesis technique
would be just another tool in the repertoire of analog modular
synthesis (everybody's doing digitally emulated analog now, how 'bout
the reverse?..). As far as generating complex inharmonic spectra go, the
available analog techniques are a) freq. shifting and b) modulation of
an expo-VCO. This would expand the range of possibilities, but requires
a keyboard outputting an exponential control voltage since it uses
linear VCO's. With the recent talk on the list concerning using several
linear VCO's with a common expo-converter, this might be worth
considering.
