Scotchmark by 3m is a pretty good product. I am waiting for an
order to come from Sydney, so i'll let you know how it turns out
once i have had a bit of experience with it. It comes in 2 forms,
aluminium and plastic film, with a selfadhesive backing. You
simply place it in your laser printer (you can't use it in a
bubblejet). This restricts it to only black markings, unless
your lucky enough to have access to a colour laser printer :)
Do all of your artwork in your favourite graphics package,
and simply print onto the surface. You can then put a polyfilm
layer on top to protect the surface. It is supposed to look
extremely professional, and is very durable.
The other product is Gedokop, a labelling system that replaces
3M's original "Scotchcal" UV exposure aluminium film. This
new(ish) product can do colour as well, and requires negative
or positive transparencies, and UV exposure box, and suitable
developing chemicals. It is supposed to be better than the
Scotchmark, but is more difficult and expensive to setup and
maintain. If you plan on building a modular synth, then this
would be a cost effective solution, but for one off projects
stick with the Scotchmark.
Do a search for 3M on Yahoo, and following the links to
Scotchmark....
Hope this helps,
