Why don't you use SSM2164 since you want to use it only
for audio?
It has much higher gain control range, probably less distortion
and few other parameters that I can't recall, and it costs 147 times less!
Or if you want high BW, take Analog Devices AD603 with only 43dB
gain range, but few times cheaper than BB VCA610
There are also others like SSM2118 etc.
