Basically, I'm looking to produce a gate signal to run into a simple AD EG
(for example, Tom G's AD design). My knowledge as to how gate signals work
when triggering an EG is holding me back a bit here.

Thanks, I'll give it a look. I've really learned a lot from just hanging
out on the list, and looking at schematics around the web. For example, I
can identify what an expo converter looks like and does, although my
understanding of how it does mathematically might not be all there.
Oh well, must start somewhere!!
