Radio Shack has also started "Tech America", though I think
there are only two stores (Atlanta and Colorado?) currently.

These are supermarket sized and have a more tradition parts 
counter in the back. Good book section, electronic kits, etc. 
Sort of Radio Shack returning to its roots. 

Prices don't compete with mail order, but they stock 
a lot of items. Good enough for emergencies. And ocassionally
some good sale prices. Also a good place to hang out and
meet other electronics hackers, a lot of ham and
robotics guys there.
