I fully agree on not using 324's for audio. But why should an unipolar vs.
bipolar supply make any difference ?? I think not ...

My guess is, if a 324 is operated from a single supply, and the load
resistance for the 324 is returned to ground, the output stage is always
sourcing current, therefore no crossover distortion. However, most audio
circuits are AC coupled, in which case this won't be true.
