Well i guessed at first it must come from the cross section of the cutting part, like a 'earth wall' dike.. but, now i suspect there might have been a manufacturer Dyke, also responsible for Dyke's Automobile handbook in the 1930s... please let me know if anyone has a lead on this, I cant sleep now.. paul perry melbourne australia
