[AH] Trim-pot debacle (ADVICE PLEASE!)

One thing to remember.. solder is liquid. If you're working on a PCB and
it's upside down (so the component side is facing the floor) and try to
suck the solder up, you'll have some trouble since the solder will
probably be more inclined to stay in its hole adhered to the component's
leg. I've had some luck turning it on its side or having it suspended at a
slight angle facing the floor. 

OTOH, it _is_ an acquired skill. I look at the work I did on my fatman and
ASM-1 and just shudder... ugly ugly ugly... also, some PCB's are easier to
desolder. plated-thu holes are easy, cheaper PCB's with really thin traces
are somewhat more difficult. plus in the latter case you're likely to heat
a trace up enough to lift off if you're not careful!
