Well, I have the curcuits and implementation of a pair of discrete
op-amps being used for audio with good success. I have been
considering giving them a more rigid treatment sometime.

My headphone amp is built around two discrete op-amps of 20 transistor
each (BC550C and BC560C, ten of each) having a class-A
output. Considering that they see my AKG K240M with a nominal
impedance of 600 ohm the 550's and 560's cope well with the task.

You can also build op-amps of other transistors.
