Right. I too always use metal film.
You can metal film resistors in a lot of flavours, from 1/8 Watt up too
1 Watt and higher.
Sometimes, in the case of very high power, you have too take carbon or even wire
wound, (L !!) , but very seldom.
I got a cheap E24 series box, and bought cheap plastic boxes to store them.
Now life is easy, just take the resistor I need, in any cases. No
need to run to the electronics store saturday afternoon!
Same with caps, get a good series of different values.
If some circuit needs a unknown lag or loop filter etc,
just try them out.
