Do you have a manufacturer's part number on this?
Sounds something like the ALPS pots I use in my effects pedals.
I special order these so they have a threaded bush, so if you have enough on a
 board you can mount the board to the panel with them.
Which is safer than having the shaft just poke thru the panel, when
people drop things on the panel & punch the pots thru the board.

Although your ots are more likely parallel to the board.
At one stage I was manufacturing a line mixer (never again, it wasn't my
design) and it used parallel mount pots, with one shaft shorter than usual
and the other longer, so 2 pots were mounted behind each other and on 
opposite sides of the board. So you got 2 rows of pots, with thepots
in vertical pairs, rather than a zigzag fashion.
