So the "last analog delay chips that will ever be made" Harry mentioned
Big Briar would use are BBDs? Or are they something different? I'm
confused now...

I've never seen the schemo of it, but I think my old Hohner digital
reverb/delay did just this. It had a DSP in it (the very old Texas
32010) and it had a LED that got brighter and dimmer with the LFO rate.
I don't think they used a DAC just for that LED nor an ADC to feed the
output signal of an  analog LFO into the DSP. The modulation wasn't very
deep at all, so it's likely the LFO modulated just the DSP clock.
