The 808 tempo clock is a separate circuit from the CPU, controlled by the
tempo pot.
The clock and run signals are connected to the CPU timing inputs (and the
din socket) if the sync switch is set to OUT.
If it is set to IN, the input from the din sync jack replaces the signal
from the 808's tempo clock at the CPU inputs.
The 808 can't tell the difference between an external din clock and it's own
internal clock.
It *is* a direct clock input - not a 'sync' input.

Very strange...
Can't think of any reason for this offhand.
Maybe something to do with the SBX-80 ?
