DIY box for adding shuffle to a Sync Signal

Here's something to mess with... a friend told me he used a thru-zero flanger 
set to 100% wet signal to modulate an SMPTE signal coming from a tape deck.  
He said it added swing to the sequencer.  

I've never personally tried this, but figured it was worth a try.
