The usual EG doesn't restart from zero with every new trigger, it should start from the current envelope level.  IE if you have a medium release tail and it hasn't decayed all the way to zero, the new trigger should start the attack stage at the current level.

Some polysynths offer a "reset to zero" option (the Memorymoog is one) that forces the cap to discharge on a new note.

Most schematics I've seen use linear pots (A, Lin) for controlling EG time constants.  Log pots are too sensitive in the lower range.
