I read about a project where someone modified an old tv to act as a
psychedelic oscilloscope.

A set of bandpass filters and rectifiers produced three voltages
proportional to the amount of bass mid and treble in the audio input.
These drove the red green and blue gun levels.
The left and right audio signals were hacked in to the coils for horizonatal
and vertical deflection of the beams.

I've been meaning to try this for years, but I got my first 'thown across
the room' experience poking about in an old telly as a boy, so I have an
unreasonable fear of the backs of TVs...
