MIDI docs

Hello again.

By the end the week i have to hand in the first chapter of my endwork project (midi-cv); which has to explain about MIDI. This isn't really tough, but anyway, anyone know where i can find real good docs, that handle the silliest detail about midi? 
A second part should explain the CV-stuff. Any documents on this?

These parts really are to give my promotor an idea of what this is all about...
If anyone else wants to write it, that's ok for me too...
