Is Fat Man all that ?

every synth has it's own characteristic sound. the fatman has a very unique
timbre much unlike any synth i've heard. it can sound sick and ugly at
times, but has tons of character-much more so (and this is purely my
opinion-not meant to spark up a big debate) than the novation basstation, or
doepfer404, or other inexpensive mono synths on the market. in my (purely
electronic) studio i have everything from serge panels and lexicon pcm80s to
electroharmonix guitar pedals and homemade noize boxes. i am a very proud
owner of a fatman as well, and currently use my fatman in my tracks along
with very expensive, more "professional" synths.
with the fatman you get a unique sounding analogue monosynth, 2 oscillators,
2 envelopes, midi controll with and a cv/gate out. you can build it in one
night, and if you have even the simplest electronic experience, you can add
useful mods like a vcf in and an audio in to the vcf/vca. all this for a
measly $150.
i know people who aren't crazy about the fatman, but i don't know anyone
that has regretted building one, and if you're like most analogue synth
enthusiasts, you can't have too many synths!
