It is called the "Circlotron" design. Dates from
the 1950s.
Was first used in hi-fi amplifiers (tube) by
Electro-Voice
and National Radio circa 1955. Similar design
currently used by
Atma-Sphere (www.atma-sphere.com) in their OTL
tube amplifiers. Basically two large
cathode/emitter
followers with floating supplies, driven with
out-of-phase
signals. Right?
(Go look at Atma's new S-30 amp. Exceedingly cool
retro looks.)
