At a radio station I work at occasionally, we use MDs for all the jingles.
They are, IMO, very good. No obvious lack of quality through compression.
Addmittadly, you may be loosing 80% of the signal, and that might be
apparant at close analysais, but surely all that matters is what you hear?
If you use good equiptment (we use Denon MD players / records) they are a
godsend. Instant start, 74 mins of CD quality audio in your pocket, and, of
course, you can get 8 track recorders that use the Data MDs (and soon video
recorders, but I don't think they'll take off, only about 10 mins of video
on an MD).

As with the Sony thing, look at any corperation, they will all use the same
tactics, but as Sony are bigger than most, their actions look bigger then
most. Most record companies do their best to rip off artists, and get them
for as cheap as possible.

I am not saying this is right, just that it happens everywhere!

Just my 2p,
James Jackson.
