Rory,

I have this song on single!! its a great song!

you should hear the B side , its a riot!!!

"ah ah, yawa em ekat ot gnimoc er'yeht", yes its the whole A side
backwards....

It was done by Napolean the 14th (XIV)...No-one knows exactly
who he was....

more useless facts, it was banned shortly after release as it
was considered derogitry to people in mental institues
"basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes"
was the line that got it banned..

Should I convert it to MP3 for anyone?

  Paul

I have the album somewhere of that- it was called
"They're coming to take me away, ha ha!" and was under the moniker of
Napoleon XXIX or something to that degree. It featured a picture of a guy in
a Napoleon outfit in a straitjacket, and he is wearing a mask.
I dont recall them telling in the liner notes who he really is- anyone out
there know?

Some of the other cuts:
The Nuts on my Family Tree
Photogenic, Schizophrenic You
Bats in my Belfry
My little red tricycle
I was glad they took you away, ha ha! (sung by his wife)

>From Bats in my Belfry:
"Bats in my Belfry, Polars are Bare,
let's polish the cannon in the town square;
Let's take a ride on my new pogo stick,
Here comes the night nurse-cover up quick!"

>From My Little Red Tricycle:
"I love my little red tricycle- it has seats
that have springs, and wheels that have spokes
that dont speak til they're spoken to!
..and a little bell that I can ring-
Brring! see? Brring! See? See?"

Jeez, and that is all from memory!
I' losing it- take me away, ha ha!!!

No, it was a fairly large hit. It was popular here in Sweden too. The artist
was called Napoleon something. I have the original 45. I think it is from
the late 60s.
It was probably the first rap and drum machine record ever.
It was of course years before drum machines were invented. So he used tape
loops to get that mechanical drum sound.
Talk about being ahead of the times!
