:::radius of the bowl is at the floor, so that upward-going waves are
:::re-focused back to the source. It can't be louder than the source, of
:::course, but you could get that illusion since you expect echos to be rather
:::weaker.

I think that's it, a parabolic (sp?) sound wave focussing mirror.
Isn't the light seen by a telescope mirror much brighter then the
real star? I trust my ears. Can the echo be louder, if the mirror
reflects all the energy that is going up right into my ear, wheras
the direct sound wave is scattered 360 DEG?
