natural slap echo

I was in Dresden these days, and I noticed a remarkable echo effect in
the Dresden-Neustadt railway station lobby.

(btw.: the AMD semiconductor fab IS also impressive).

The ceiling is allmost bowl shaped (callotte sp?), and if you are in
the center of symmetry, you can hear echos which seem to be louder even than the
the original noise! I have never heard such a destinct, clear and loud
echo effect in my life, except for DSP echos, of course.

Great fun, tapping with shoes, rumbling with suitcase, shouting.

Any explantion for this extraordinary effect?
I know that symmetry enforces all kind of resonances, and that
it is to be avoided by all means for building loudspeaker cabinets.

Some day my audio obsessions will make me carried away by white men.

btw.: is a kid i noticed a funny record an the British Forces Radio BFBS.
The text was : They're trying to take me away, hahah ....

Is there somebody who knows this? What's the name?
Was it BFBS custom?
