You're right!! The M5218L (Mitsubishi) is just an ordinary low noise opamp.
According to the input noise voltage of 2,0µV it's even more noisy than the
standard NJM4548, which has "just" 1,4µV (referring to both datasheets).
Besides there's nothing special about this opamp. You can use the TL0xx of
course but the 5218 is often a bit cheaper than the TL072. If you want to go
100% original, use the 5218 though there's absolutely no need. The NE5534(A)
is a good choice too.
I'm currently working on a 808/909 Bass Drum clone with tons of
modifications. The opamp I'm using for it is the NJM4580 - my favourite
opamp. The problem is that it's a bit hard to find. And it's a bit
expensive. Check it out at www.njr.com
