Hi John, a lot of your comments were well said. I'll see if I can
make a comment or two without making anybody mad a me...
>As for the Doepfer Boycott, well WHAT A LOAD! We are all lucky to have
>them around, along with the rest of the "nano" companies making niche
>market modular equipment at INCREDIBLY reasonable prices.
In my personal opinion.......;-) We are all incredibly unlucky!
I hope this hasn't hurt DIY but we may never fully recover. I can
forget about seeing another wonderful discovery or prized circuit
from JH unless I buy the module. ( Do you really think I would
work so hard to build my own stuff if I could afford Paul's
stuff? Or anybody's stuff, for that matter...)
Even little things that wouldn't make it to a commercial module
will probably be withheld. This could spread to other members.
What would we talk about then? How to fix keys that don't work
or please don't use WD-40 to clean that pot!!! ( sorry I get cynical
when I'm sad ) I'm in no hurry to post anything else and I've got
all this stuff too! Oh well guess I'll have to go the "buy the kit get
the schematic" route like everybody else. I can just see it now..
------------------------------
By breaking the shrink-wrap on this kit you agree to certain
legal terms and conditions......You may not copy the schematic
diagram in any form ....bla...bla...bla
-------------------------------
It's true anybody could have found this stuff on their own. (I don't
believe that for a second do you?) Or just happened on JH's
site and said to himself "Wow this is great. I can save a ton of
money on r&d."....... But I feel like somebody looked over my
shoulder, copied my test, handed in my paper, got my grade
and basically pissed on my feet on his way out the door to the
gorgeous blond and corvette that should be mine. ( I know it's
extreme... it's just an analogy....)
It's true we didn't come up with this stuff. But because of the
sprit of sharing with each other we have pushed the art of
re-engenering dino-crap to another level. Sharing our excitement
at getting something cool to work and the method so others
could repeat our efforts. It's a lot of hard work. We do it for fun
but it's work!!
Somebody was watching us. I'm sure of it. How else could have
all the best stuff been the target. I feel like they have stolen
something beyond value from me.... from you too...from all of us.
-tg ( It's only my personal opinion... for what it's worth..;-)
