stomp box housing sources?

What would you guys recommend as a source for a generic stomp box housing?
 I'd like something like the cast aluminum Bud boxes that MXR used but
they are too cost-prohibitive now.  Are there perhaps overseas
manufactures of these that price them much cheaper?

I have been thinking of doing effects box circuit kits or at least a book
on them, and you can get a commercial product for less than the parts cost
I would have to pay to make one on my own, yet alone resell it.  Anyone
have experience with the packaging aspects of such efforts?

I'd ideally like to find a cheaper alternative to the Bud box and then
perhaps even just go with the stock non-painted surface and apply thick
aluminum stickers for the labeling.  Get fancier if its justified later
on.
