The whole idea behind the "mail it to yourself" thing as it was explained to
me once is mostly to establish "when" you had the idea. Who was first sometimes
counts a lot. If someone can prove they did it before you, you loose. Also, it
was explained to me that you should put plenty of stamps on the envelope, and
over the flap, so that it will be evident that it was never tampered with. I was
also told to make sure the the postmaster cancels all of the stamps.
