Thanks for all your nice words.

Many people have written me letters of support, and
some have even promised not to buy Doepfer's stuff anymore.
Which is something I admitedly appreciate, but which I
would not ask anybody to do. (Like I don't recommend,
but would admittedly appreciate, if someone spread
the message of this affair to a larger forum (;->))

Well, in my opinion anybody who buys this crap has
punished himself already, when he realizes how flimsy
Doepfers stuff is mechanically. There is no good taking
a nice circuit and putting it into an undersized box with crappy
jacks and tiny potentiometers. IMO, he's ripping off his customers
more than me (or anybody else whose circuits he uses,
for that matter).

Protecting circuits, as Rick suggested, is out of the question.
I have not designed the Wasp. EDP is long defunct, so I
have built my own standalone version of the VCF and shared
it with the diy community for non-commercial use. And I have
explicitely given permission for my (not EDP's) version to
be commercially built by one single company (*not* Doepfer).
Who knows where Doepfer got his circuit from ? I don't *expect*
this from the Man-Who-Cannot-Tell-A-Moog-Ladder-From-A
Diode-Ladder, but he *might* have done the reverse engineering
all by himself. And even if he went straight to my homepage and
copied my version, he might claim he had done the work himself.
He might even have bought the "EDP" or "Wasp" trademark - things
like that have happened to greater people, after all.

The bottom line is we do not know, even when things look evident,
and nowadays we even have to add (which I hereby do) that all
I have written is just my opinion and my asumption and the evidence
of a handful people who don't believe in blind coincidence.

Protecting ? There never was protection against bad style.

JH.
