And the contact bouncing... make sure to use old bulky relays, not
modern reed relays. ;-)

But seriously: I've seen a circuit with a neon bulb/LDR to generate an
envelope. There must be something special to the envelope when the neon
bulb turns on. The circuit needed a high voltage power supply only for
that bulb!
